Hvordan lager man en film om noe som er så grusomt at det unnviker forklaring og representasjon? De siste tre årene har regissør Carl Javér og produsent Fredrik Lange jobbet med dokumentaren Reconstructing Utøya. Fire overlevende fra angrepet har i filmen rekonstruert opplevelsene sine, i forsøket på å finne en måte de kan forholde seg til det som skjedde på.
I tillegg til å vise klipp fra filmen og snakke om prosessen, vil regissøren og produsenten sammen med den norske co-produsenten John Arvid Berger fortelle om ideen bak prosjektet og selve innspillingen.
Carl Javér, born in 1972, has worked as a director and editor on several documentaries since leaving film school (Documentary Film Production at Biskops Arnö, 1993-94). He has directed seven documentaries including three major documentary series. His latest documentary Freak Out was on cinema in Sweden, broadcasted on ARTE and has won 10 film festival prizes. He is a workshop leader and lecturer in documentary filmmaking and dramaturg in documentaries. Co-Owner of Vilda Bomben Film AB and a member of the selection group for film in the Swedish Art Grants Committee. Carl is currently writing on a feature script named «All for One» and is directing a major documentary on the Terror attack at Utøya, Norway called Reconstructing Utøya. The project is backed by amongst others Euroimage, Swedish Film Institute, Danish Film Institute, Norwegian Film Institute, Nordic Film and TV Fund and Film i Väst.
Fredrik Lange started his career in the theatre. 1984-85 Stockholm University, Theatre Science. 1986 Kulturama acting studies in Stockholm. 1987-1990 Assistant director and prompter at Gothenburg City Theatre and Stockholm City Theatre. 1989-1991 Stage hand at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, working both at the Opera House and the Drottningholm Theatre. 1990-1992 Film work with documentary Film maker Yngve Baum, 1993-1994 Academy of Arts in Prague, directing theater and dramaturgy. 1995-1996 Opera Stage design. 1997 Dramaturg at Gothenburg City Theatre. 1999 Programme Director at Hagabion in Gothenburg. 2001 Film producing studies in Trollhättan, exam 2005. Vilda Bomben film AB Producer 2004-. He has a Master in Film production from the School of Film Directing (Akademin Valand) from 2010.
